So you're interested in a drawing for yourself or a loved one? Commission a drawing, it makes a unique gift they'll never forget.
Commission information:
For a good drawing with as much detail as possible, I will need a good high quality photograph. Preferably one that has light coming from one side or the other. Lots of shadows makes a better drawing. School class pictures (where the flash is from the front) are not as good as ones you've probably taken just around the house or at a park. I prefer to get this photograph in an e-mail. I can then print it out and also have it on my laptop for reference. If you're not sure, send me a few of your favorites and I can tell you which would make the best drawing (<--this is the best option). If you have to scan a photograph, be sure to scan it at 300dpi resolution.
Size:
I don't like to draw huge pictures. So I only do drawings in the 8X12 to 10X13 range--or smaller. (Almost all the ones you see in my gallery are in
that range except "Arnold" and "Lou & Babe.") When I have the photograph and see how complex it is, I will then know the price and can e-mail it to you.
Price:
For one portrait (shoulders up) of one person, I usually start between $150.00 to $200.00. A normal drawing will take me between 15-25 hours to draw. It all depends on the photograph. If you want multiple people in the drawing, obviously the price will be higher, again depending on the complexity. I prefer paypal. It's much easier and safer. If you don't have a paypal account, you'll need to get one. I can take money orders, but prefer paypal. I can take checks, but they will have to clear before I send the drawing. I've read that I should take a down payment just to be sure I don't do all the work for nothing if the person backs out late in the game, but I prefer to trust people. But please, only serious commission requests...for my hand's sake. Once I complete the drawing, I will send a photograph of it by e-mail. You can then pay and I will ship it immediately.
Time:
I have a full time job and two kids under 7 so my drawing time is limited. But on commissions, I tend to work on them as much as possible and get
it done as soon as I can. So 2-3 weeks to a few months...depending on the picture (that's getting old isn't it?) But I will try to expedite if you like
for a small fee. I will also send updated progress e-mails so you can see how it's going.
Shipping:
I will let you know the price for shipping once the drawing is done. It will be whatever it costs to ship--this isn't ebay, (don't you love it when they gouge you on shipping?). I'm a mailman, so I know how to send parcels in the mail. :)
This is long enough, use the contact form here for any questions or send me a message on facebook at my facebook page here.
cheers!
